My new year movie

A happy new year everyone.
Holidays are over, I'm back to work.
When the holidays are over, I feel like a bit sad and blue every year - maybe everyone does.
My "holiday is over blue" cure is watching movies and listening music, keeping going out to cafes.
I watched a movie that my friend Chantal (she's a craft artist from Montreal) recommended, that called "Another earth" (by Mike Cahill).
According to IMDB about this film, the first sentence says"On the night of the discovery of a duplicate planet in the solar system.." it is Sci-Fi film, but it is not a spectacular type of Sci-Fi, the back ground scenes are along with people's regular life.
I like the cinematography which is like cold, winter days.

You can discover more stories with their trailer.

"Through away your book" changed..

Once a week, I'm trying to do not look at my computer whole day, the day I call "Forget about the Internet, go out into the streets"day.
I often stack in front of computer, internet is interesting and handy, an irresistible world, but am trying to leave from it as well as I can. It is difficult to me, even only once a week.

The day's title(?) is inspired by a book called "Through away your books, rally on the streets" by Shuji Terayama.
The book was written in 60's, about his thought for young men's lifestyle.
I guess it is in the other words, " Learn about things not only from reading your books, also you should see different world, find out your own way"
He made a movie with same title in 70's, it is slightly different from the book, is artistic, thought of punkish film.

Anyways, today was supposed to be "no online day", but I woke up late and outside is rain as Vancouver's winter weather, still am stacking on the computer..

Arakimentari

I watched Arakimentari, which is documentary film about Japanese photographer, "genius" Araki's works.
You 'll think his works are scary erotic photographs when you first see them, if you watch this film, you can find his charming character and his love on every photos.
I thought he doesn't care people called his works "porno graph" or "art", he loves taking photographs and enjoys his work all the time.
He loves taking photographs, but most he loves is his wife, even she died long time ago.
Very inspiring film.

Fears for joys?

My boyfriend loves Dario Argento films.
So we often watch the movies.
I like his movie's lightings, they are exactly like beautiful nightmares.
Dario's movies have always similar icons. Strange wispers and children's song..here are some images.
(the pictures are not all from the movie)

Where the wild things are

YMI Jeans featured my item on their blog -
Actually, my boyfriend told me about the book(where teh wild thing..) was his favorite when he was a child.

I am from Japan and I didn't know about the story since he told me but I'm sure if I was born in States or North America, it must be a favorite book.

Can't wait to watch the movie.

In the mood for Halloween

Here is a small list for Halloween movies.

Klaus Kinski's act is the greatest count Dracula, I think.

An Italian fantasy horror.

This isn't very Halloween?

About a mystery in a tiny island, cinematography is impressive, scary end.

90's, my way of - 3

I started to watch Cult movies since 90s.
In the era, I was in Tokyo, tiny theatres were screening cult movies(old to new) in the late shows.
I am not sure still they are running those shows, I guess a few theatres keep those events.

Chungking - express(mid 90s)

Pulp fiction(mid 90s)

Trainspotting(mid 90s)

Kujaku(late 90s)

The mauveis sang

I watched a movie called "Mauveis sang(Bad blood)".
It is a french 80s movie.
The movie doesn't look like 80s film -Kind of dark, interesting cinematography, mysterious love story.
The main charactor is working on the street, his father is killed by someone.
He and his father's friends commit a crime, and then he met a girl(Juliette Binoche) who loves his father's friend, he is falling in love with her.
The main charactor has a girlfriend too.
It is interesting about friendship of the main charactor and the mysterious girl.

It remind me Wong Ka Wai's chinese movie called "In the mood for love".
