Weekend get away

I went Vancouver island last weekend to visit friends.

It was foggy in the morning.

Luckily, I could see the sun.

We went Chou chou in Victoria.

..and trails.
My friends, they have a house with their garden in Sooke.

Branches for the wood stove.

This place is a different area, in the end of the island, I often came to through stones.
I saw incredible sunset in a way home, was a bonus.

Stubby bottle

The other day, I was at a beer store's casher to buy a pack of redstripe beer, somebody behind me told me about "stubby bottle".
She said that the "stubby bottle"  was popular in 70s, now they are not common and the style is sort of nostalgic.

According to wikipedia,

" A short glass bottle used for beer is generally called a stubby. Shorter and flatter than standard bottles, stubbies pack into a smaller space for transporting. The bottles are sometimes made with thick glass so that the bottle can be cleaned and reused before being recycled
Stubbies are used extensively in Europe, and were used almost exclusively in Canada from 1962 to 1986 as part of a standardization effort intended to reduce breakage, and the cost of sorting bottles when they were returned by customers. Due to their nostalgic value, stubbies were reintroduced by a number of Canadian craft brewers in the early 2000s. In the U.S., stubbies have generally fallen out of favour, with only a few brands still using them such as the Session Lager by theFull Sail Brewing Company, and Red Stripe, a Jamaican brand import.

(I short cut some sentences from actual article)

Here's some images of retro bottles -  they look interesting.

Do you think I talked about beer so often?
Yes, I love beer!

Lambic beer

Since I tried Kriek beer,

I became a big fun of those sour taste beer.
They called "Lambic"

"Lambic is a very distinctive type of beer brewed only in the Pajottenland region of Belgium (southwest of Brussels) and in Brussels itself at theCantillon Brewery and museum." (from wikipedia)

Yesterday I tried was Lambic Gueuze, Cuvee rene.

It tastes righter than the Kriek or Duches,
according to wikipedia,  "a good gueuze will be given a year to referment in the bottle, but can be kept for 10–20 years."!

It is amazing to know people start making these kind of drinks 500 years ago..

Risa Salsberg's art works

Risa Salsberg, is  Vancouver based mixed media artist.
I saw her works and greeting cards at Robson square market.

I bought one of her cards, her illustrations are minimum and unique,
the simple lines remind me Japanese style illustrations.
According to her website, she has studied with the Buddhist nuns in a Zen temple in Tokyo.

From her website,  "Drift" series.

You can see more her cards on her etsy store also.

We had a Brunch at "Lucy's".

After that, we walked around the street.
Went to "Lark", a lot of stripe shirts, their spring stuffs are beautiful. (the photo took from their web site)

they have awesome blankets.
They will be great for spring picnic. (the photo from their web site)
Don't forget to check out my stuff, spring items are out in the Dandelion emporium.

Flowers

I didn't blog for a while..I was busy for work and pretty much staying at home everyday, didn't have inspiration for writing. Today I had a chance to get out from work, and walked around the town.

This is out of subject from today's walk but I felt like to write.
My boyfriend likes perfumes,  he has a good nose(?).  When we take a walk, me and he like to smell flowers from somebody's garden. The other day, we found currant flowers during the walk.Surprisingly, they smell like "wine gum(black coloured one)"!
We like the smell and every time when we pass by the tree, we take a smell of the flowers.
The other day, I found currant flowers at a flower shop, of cause I bought it.
Now the flower's smell is a bit faded but still they smell like "wine gum".

Snowy day

It was snow in Vancouver today.
I just rolled up my favourite blanket a few days ago, but I opened it again.

My balcony plants were covered up by snow.

If will be sunny tomorrow, I'll take snow photos, if it will be rain or snow, maybe I'll read a book.
